It’s not necessarily wrong to take pride in our work, or in something else we’ve done well the Bible urges us to be diligent and do our best. The Bible says: ‘For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world’ (1 John 2:16). Pride is associated with failure, not success. Pride comes in looking at ourselves, meekness comes through looking at God. You had ambitious thoughts of yourself, your powers, desires, and aims but now that will begin to change…you have been born again. There may have been a time when pride was the very center of your life. It is not in wanting to have things but in wanting more things than others. It is not in wanting to be noticed but in wanting to be the most noticed. Pride consist not in wanting to be rich, but in wanting to be richer than your neighbor. No one like an arrogant, prideful person. Pride always puts above others-and cuts off from them as a result. Pride flees when we compare ourselves to God instead of other people.
